Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (+2.5)
Preseason record: 0-0
The Vikings no longer have running back Dalvin Cook after a surprising decision to waive one of their most dangerous offensive weapons in recent memory, but don’t say that Minnesota isn’t a stacked squad on that end of the field this year.
The team still has wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who led the NFL last season in receiving yards. And even if Jefferson won’t suit up and play against the Seahawks, chances are Seattle will be dealing with the talented rookie wideout Jordan Addison, who was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by Minnesota. Last season, the Vikings were eighth in the NFL with 24.9 points per game and fourth with 264.2 passing yards per contest. Look for the Vikings’ rushing attack to impress against Seattle’s run defense which was among the worst in 2022.
The total has hit the Over in six of the Vikings’ last 10 games in the preseason, dating back to 2019.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-2.5)
Preseason record: 0-0
The Seahawks were among the pleasant surprises of the 2022 NFL season. Despite parting ways with Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson in the 2022 offseason, the Seahawks still managed to post a 9-8 record and even reach the playoffs, with Geno Smith as their starter. Seattle then rewarded Smith with a 3-year, $75 million contract extension last March, but he will not have to work this Thursday against the Vikings.
Third-string Holton Ahlers might get the most action under center in Week 1 of the preseason for Seattle, which averaged 23.9 points per game in 2022. But the figure Seattle fans love to see the most on Thursday is rookie wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who was taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Njigba is an explosive asset for Seattle’s air attack. Former UCLA star running back Zach Charbonnet might also see some shine on the field now that he seems to be okay after a recent injury scare in training camp.
The Under is 8-2 in Seattle’s last 10 preseason games.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Minnesota Vikings vs Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks take care of business at home with their offense clicking, particularly in the passing attack.

The Seahawks win, 19-16.
