Manchester United have their first signing in the Ten Hag era
After several days of negotiation, Manchester United can finally officialize the signing of Tyrell Malaysia. The 22-year-old left-back arrived from Feyenoord for €15 million and signed a contract until 2027.
Malasia was part of the Feyenoord side that surprised many people last season by reaching the UEFA Europa Conference League final, and arrives at the Red Devils for a modest fee as an option on the left flank after Luke Shaw and Alex Telles have not proven to be ideal for that position.
Alexia Putellas to miss Women’s EURO
The Spanish national team suffers a significant loss for the upcoming Women’s European Championship after it was confirmed that Barcelona midfielder and current Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas will miss the tournament, after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in her left knee.
The absence of Putellas adds to the absence of Jennifer Hermoso, Spain’s all-time leading scorer, so Spain’s bid to win the title this summer suffered a major blow and they will have to face the competition without two of their top stars.
PSG makes Christophe Galtier’s arrival as coach official
One comes and one goes. Following the confirmation of Mauricio Pochettino’s dismissal earlier in the day, Paris Saint-Germain officialized Christophe Galtier being hired as his successor.
Galtier arrives after coaching Nice last season and was the coach who led Lille to be crowned Ligue 1 champions in the 2020/21 season. However, he will have to prove that he is up to the task of managing a big club with stars and a lot of egos in the dressing room, something he has not had to deal with in his previous stints at Saint-Étienne, Lille and Nice.
Ibrahmovic extends Milan contract
Ibrahimović confirmed that he will play for at least one more season after signing a one-year contract with Milan for a salary of less than €2 million.
The news may come as a surprise as the legendary Swedish striker missed much of last season with a knee injury and will also miss part of the start of next season, but the Rossoneri are confident that his leadership and experience within the dressing room can be of help as they seek to defend their Serie A title.
Luuk de Jong ends up back in the Eredivisie
Former Barcelona striker Luuk de Jong will return to the Eredivisie for a second spell with PSV.
It was reported that de Jong, whose contract was with Sevilla, was in talks with Toluca of Liga MX, but this did not materialize, and the lanky 31-year-old center striker will return to the Dutch club he was with from 2014 to 2019, before moving to Andalusia.
“Toto” Salvio is Pumas’ new addition
Eduardo Salvio, who did end up in Liga MX, signed with Pumas after arriving as a free agent following his time at Boca Juniors.
“Toto” signed a contract until 2024 and will wear the university team’s number 10 shirt.
