Day 2 of the Apertura 2022 gave us some good games and we were able to see which teams are the most solid in this new Liga MX tournament. The same goes for the performance of some players who are being important in this start of the season, and that has placed them in the ideal team of Day 2.

Of the 18 teams, there were some that started off strong on the opening day, and this weekend showed us that it was not a mirage and that they have really worked to achieve positive results. But as in everything, there were several people responsible for this to happen and those were the players who managed to stand out with goals or simply with their security, confidence and vision of the game.

Liga MX announced the 11 members of the Day 2 team for the Apertura 2022. There were some modifications with respect to the ideal team of Day 1, but there are also some players who managed to be consistent with their performance and appeared once again in the XI of Day 2 of Apertura 2022.

Liga MX Ideal Xi: The Team of the Week for Day 2 of the Apertura 2022

Without further ado, here are the 11 players who had great performances this weekend.

For the second consecutive week, the best goalkeeper was Brazilian Tiago Volpi. He didn’t keep a clean sheet, but he was key to Toluca’s 3-2 win over

Four defenders were selected as the bests of Day 2 of the Apertura 2022: Stefan Medina, Gustavo Cabral, Valber Huerta, and Maximiliano Olivera. Three of those four were noted for scoring in their games.

In addition to his defensive duties, Medina was also in charge of opening the scoring in Monterrey’s 3-2 win over América. Cabral was also a defensive player who was fortunate enough to help his team, Pachuca, to a 1-2 win over Cruz Azul.

Chilean Huerta was once again a member of the Liga MX team this season, scoring once again in Toluca’s victory.

Olivera was the only defender among those selected who did not score a goal, but was instrumental in keeping Juárez scoreless in the 2-0 away win over Tijuana.

The midfield standouts this weekend were: Leonardo Fernández, Israel Reyes, Luis Chávez, and Facundo Waller.

Fernández once again contributed a goal and an assist as Toluca picked up its second win of the campaign. Reyes did not score, but he is in the Liga MX ideal team once again for his key role in Puebla’s play. Chávez earned his place in this Day 2 lineup by scoring a goal in Pachuca’s win. And finally there is Waller who scored San Luis’ goal in the 0-1 win over Chivas.

The two strikers chosen in the ideal XI were Lucas Di Yorio and Milton Giménez.

Di Yorio scored a brace in León’s 3-3 draw against Pumas, while Giménez scored both goals in Necaxa’s 1-2 win over Querétaro.

J2 coach was Nicolás Larcamón:

This is how the overall standings are after two rounds.
