Betting on the Michigan State Spartans

  • Regular Season Record: 21-12

The Spartans are not done yet. Tom Izzo and the Spartans are moving on to the Sweet Sixteen round after upsetting the Marquette Golden Eagles in the second round, 69-60. It was a hard-fought contest that saw the Spartans shoot just 44.4 percent from the field and go only 2/16 from behind the arc.

However, Michigan State had 10 more free-throw makes than the Golden Eagles, which greatly helped the difference. The Spartans have yet to find their form from behind the arc so far in the NCAA tournament, so they could be due soon for a big performance from the 3-point region where they have a success rate of 38.7 percent – sixth-best in the nation.

Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats

  • Regular Season Record: 25-9

Kansas State thwarted the Kentucky Wildcats in the second round with a 75-69 win. K-State shot 48.1 percent from the field while holding Kentucky to just 41.3 FG% and 44.4 eFG%. That’s a fantastic job for Kansas State’s on-ball defense considering the fact that John Calipari’s Wildcats had nine more attempts from the floor than Jerome Tang’s Wildcats.

Kansas State struggled to secure rebounds leading to a 19-4 advantage by Kentucky on the offensive glass, but that shouldn’t be as much of an issue this Thursday against Michigan State, which is just 222nd in the nation in offensive rebound rate. Moreover, Kansas State’s perimeter defense can extend the 3-point shooting woes of the Spartans, as the Wildcats are 15th in the nation with opponents shooting just 29.7 3FG%.

JefeBet Prediction

Michigan State is going to play aggressive basketball once again and generate a ton of attempts from the foul line just like it did in the Marquette game. That’s how they’ll win against Kansas State.

Prediction: Michigan State wins, 75-73.
