The first stage of voting for the 2002 Major League Baseball All-Star Game came to an end. On Friday, two players earned the starting spot for the July 19 midseason showdown at the Dodger Stadium.
In the American League, the most voted player was the New York Yankees outfielder, Aaron Judge, who with 3,762,498 votes did not only led the young circuit, but also all of baseball.
On the other hand, in the National League, the top voted player was the Atlanta Braves outfielder, Ronald Acuña Jr., who attained 3,503,188 votes.
Moreover, two finalists who will fight for the starting position were announced. Meanwhile, in the outfield, there were four who made it to the final cut, Judge and Acuña Jr. occupy one of the three positions for each circuit.
It is worth noting, that the remaining players who did not finish in the top two for each position, will continue to receive votes in order to be able to attend the game as reserves. Also, it transpired that the Toronto Blue Jays is the team with the most finalists (6), while in the National League the team with the most finalists is the Braves (5).
