Ronda Rousey will not be able to step into the ring for a while after attacking referee Dan Engler during SummerSlam.
The former champion of the UFC decided some time ago to turn her career around and switched from mixed martial arts to wrestling, becoming a protagonist in the WWE. However, in her last performance she did something that will keep her out of the ring for an indefinite period of time.
On Saturday, July 30, Ronda Rousey fought for the title against Liv Morgan but lost. The referee gave the win to Morgan and that upset Rousey, so she sought to take out her anger over the decision on the referee.
This loss was painful for Rousey, as it was one of the most important fights in history, but that doesn’t justify what she did to the referee. After the decision, she applied a headlock on Dan Engler and took him to the canvas.
Ronda Rousey to Pay Fine in Addition to Serving Suspension
After what happened at SummerSlam, WWE issued a statement saying that Rousey was wrong to physically retaliate against the referee and that she will be suspended and fined for that reason.
Following her attack on referee Dan Engler at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended. An irate Rousey attacked the official after her SmackDown Women’s Title Match, claiming he missed Liv Morgan tapping out to the Armbar while he counted the pinfall.
It has always been known that the martial arts specialist fighter has a strong temperament, as this is not the first time she has received an indefinite suspension. It is, in fact, the second time she has been punished in this way in her career, as WWE does not tolerate such behaviour.
We do not know the amount of the fine, neither the time of suspension, but we hope that the punishment will make her reconsider and avoid this type of behavior. For the time being, Ronda will not appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.
As for her rival Liv Morgan, Saturday night was a complete success, as she became the first wrestling superstar to defeat Rousey twice, managing to retain the belt.
