Sam Howell, the rookie quarterback for the Washington Commanders, revealed his food requirements and, incredibly, among them is the “oddity” that he has never eaten a hamburger.
The United States is a country in which fast food is the most popular, thanks to its ease of availability and low cost. Given this we might think that any American of any age has tried and enjoyed the burgers, but not so, as recently, the quarterback, selected by the Commanders in the 2022 Draft, Sam Howell, just revealed that at 21 years old he has never done it.
In an interview with ABC11’s Mark Armstrong, the Washington franchise rookie, who was picked in the fifth round with the 144th overall pick, said he is quite particular when it comes to food, which is why he hasn’t had hamburgers at the age of 21.
Howell, who hails from North Carolina, said he is often criticized for being a picky eater, confessing that he only eats chicken. So much so that the player himself explained that he even brings his own Chicken Tenders to team meetings. His taste is such that he could easily have his own brand of the dish, something like Sam Howell Chicken Tenders Bar.
“People give me a hard time, but the only meat I eat is chicken.”
He does not eat barbecues/grills/roasts, he does not eat hamburgers, nor seafood, only chicken, but for him, it is something normal, as he assured that he has always been like that:
“It’s been like that my whole life. I really don’t know why. I started that when I was younger, but it’s something I’ve kind of just kept up through my whole life. Chicken is the only meat I eat.”
He added:
“So I only go to restaurants that serve something with chicken on the menu.”
Sam Howell’s College American Football Numbers
During his three seasons with the Carolina Tar Heels, quarterback Sam Howell performed well, demonstrating his arm strength as well as his other skills, his dexterity and speed. He has 10,283 yards (9.4 km) per pass, 92 touchdown passes and 23 interceptions in 37 games played. In addition to 63.8% of complete passes.
So far, it appears that the chicken meat has given Sam Howell enough energy to be able to perform at his best on the gridiron, and Commanders fans will surely hope that continues to be the case.
