The Tigres UANL want to be one step ahead in the MX League, apart from the sport as it has already established itself as one of the best teams in the 2022 Clausura Tournament. The Monterrey-based team is now seeking to establish a revolution in the way in which tickets can be purchased for its home games, and they are looking to be pioneers in accepting cryptocurrencies for the sale of tickets for its home games.
The board of directors of the team announced that they will have a new payment method for their fans to purchase tickets for matches at the Estadio Universitario. The Monterrey team reached an agreement with the Bitso company and from Matchday 16 on, their fans will be able to buy their tickets with cryptocurrencies.
The co-founder and CEO of Bitso Daniel Vogel, stated that he is delighted with the agreement reached with the Nuevo León soccer team to implement the daily use of cryptocurrencies.
“Our commitment is to make cryptocurrencies useful for all people. We love this agreement between Bitso and Boletomóvil that will allow the daily use of cryptocurrencies for our customers at Club Tigres sporting events, thus extending its use as a payment method for any type of event.”
The club announced the news on its social networks so that people who want to attend the match against America, know that this time through Boletomóvil they will be able to buy tickets with this new form of payment. For its part, Boletomóvil will be looking for a way for all of its events to have the option of paying with cryptocurrencies, but for now only Tigres games at El Volcán will have this payment method.
Tigers and the Use of Cryptocurrencies
Tigres announced the historic moment in a press release.
This is not the first time that the feline team has innovated with respect to the use of cryptocurrencies, since last January, the institution announced the departure of Stefany Ferrer from the women’s team, and although the news was that the first international player to play in the Mexican women’s league would leave for Angel City FC of the National Womens Soccer League (NWSL), the fact that the transaction was made with cryptocurrencies ended up stealing the attention.
“Since we announced our partnership with Bitso we talked about the possibility of exploring new opportunities for the Club, and today came the day to continue growing together. At the time we already made the first transfer in women’s football through cryptocurrencies and now we give our fans the opportunity to buy tickets to access matches through this platform,” it was stated.
