Tigres has one more reinforcement to face the Apertura 2022 of the Liga MX which kicked off this weekend.
Although the Mexican soccer tournament is already underway, teams still have the opportunity to continue adding to their squads to improve their lineups. The Monterrey-based team had already made some changes to their squad, but they dared to make one more to improve their offense.
Although the team has many efficient strikers, coach Miguel Herrera believes that adding one more could be beneficial. The player the felines will add to their attack is the Ecuadorian Jordy Caicedo, who will come from the Bulgarian league, where he played with CSKA Sofia.
Who Is Jordy Caicedo, Tigres’ New Reinforcement?
He made his Ecuadorian league debut in 2014 with Deportivo Azogues, but at that time he only played seven games and scored two goals. Despite little playing time, the young attacker was sought after by Universidad Católica, also from the local league, and so far is the club he has spent the most time with, having been with them from 2015 and 2018.
In 2019, he spent time with El Nacional of Ecuador, and months later he emigrated to Brazil to play with E.C. Vitória, where he did not stay for long.
In the 2020 season he joined CSKA Sofia of Bulgaria and the two seasons he spent with that team have been the best in his entire career. Jordy Caicedo played a total of 64 games and scored 31 goals in all competitions.
Due to his quality and good performances, he has also been called up to the Ecuadorian national team, both for the youth and senior categories. In fact, in the qualifiers for Qatar 2022, he played six games and scored one goal.
Tigres got the Apertura 2022 off to a bad start, losing 2-3 at home to Cruz Azul on Saturday, July 2. The San Nicolás team will seek to reverse this situation in order to prove that it is one of the contenders for the title this season.
Their next game will be on Friday, July 8, against Mazatlan FC as visitors.
