Tyler Smith was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the #24 overall pick. According to some people, the franchise could have made a mistake because of the player’s medical history.

The Cowboys will be the talk of the town after the 2022 NFL Draft, despite not pulling off the upset with pick #24. They chose to be discreet and wait for what was available when it was their turn. They finally settled on Tyler Smith, a Tulsa graduate offensive tackle.

Of course, the boy was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and that’s already a point in his favor. But… why is it striking that he was selected in the first round?

Well, it turns out that the experts had him pegged as a second-round talent. Although the 21-year-old Tulsa graduate has an enviable physique that makes him imposing just by having him in front of him (just what is needed at the Offensive Tackle position), and he is also strong and tough; the fact that he registered 16 infractions in 13 games in the 2021 season was indeed a warning sign. But the Cowboys preferred to focus on the positive things this kid could bring to the team, so now he’s theirs.

However, there is another detail to consider, and that is Tyler Smith’s medical history.

What’s the status of Tyler Smith’s health?

Tyler Smith suffered from Blount’s disease as a child. This disease appears in the tibia and causes the legs to look bowed. Smith carried that problem up to high school, but he underwent medical procedures to correct it.

During the 2022 NFL Draft, Ian Rapoport spoke about that illness that once affected the life of the now Cowboys player and said he considered it a “remarkable story.”

According to medical reports, at this point there is nothing that stops Tyler Smith from showing his abilities in the NFL, as the whole foot problem is a thing of the past. He has undergone a check-up, and everything seems to indicate that he is in optimal condition.

The Cowboys now only have to worry about where they will put Tyler Smith on the gridiron, since in addition to being an Offensive Tackle, he can also play guard.

Terence Steele plays right guard and Tyron Smith plays left guard, so the Texas franchise may be thinking that Tyler Smith could be Tyron’s future replacement, but they may also want to use him as a guard.

Life has already presented Tyler Smith with difficult trials, and he has overcome them, so we can predict a promising future in the NFL for him.
