With just a few days to go until the end of this campaign, Premier League teams agreed to return to the five-change-per-game rule, something that would be effective for the 2022-23 season.
“From next season, clubs will be able to use five substitutions, which will be made three times during a match, with an additional opportunity at half-time,” the English league said in a statement.
Let’s keep in mind that the Premier League adopted this measure for the last meetings of the 2019-20 campaign, so the teams already know what it is to raise the meetings with the possibility of modifying almost half of the starting eleven.
It is important to note that the powerful teams would benefit the most from this change, as they will be able to expose the depth of their squads, especially when they have problems beating the weakest teams in the English first division. In fact, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola openly criticised the league when the five-change per-match rule was previously rejected.
The next Premier League season has a starts on August 6, with Liverpool and Manchester United as the teams that will again start as the main candidates for the title.
Mohamed Salah’s Premier League Numbers
The 29-year-old Egyptian footballer has established himself as one of the top stars of English football thanks to his memorable performances with Liverpool, especially in the 2018-19 season when they lost the Premier League title by one point to Manchester City but won the Champions League.
After 172 Premier League appearances, Mohamed Salah records 115 goals and 43 assists. This numbers place the “pharaoh” as one of the best players in the recent history of Liverpool.
