Roberto Alvarado joined the concentration of the Mexican National Team before the loss of Rodolfo Pizarro due to injury.

On March 17, the coach of the Mexican National Team, Gerardo Martino, announced the players cited to face the last three dates of the World Cup Qualifiers towards Qatar 2022, where they will face the United States, Honduras, and El Salvador. However, Guadalajara midfielder Roberto Alvarado did not appear on that list, as the “Tata” preferred to call other players for his position.

Nonetheless, this Monday the “Louse” Alvarado got a new opportunity: he joined the call after Rodolfo Pizarro’s injury was announced last minute. Pizarro is out of the Mexican National Team due to an injury that has been afflicting him for some weeks, but that ended up complicating him after playing the Clásico Regio. In a statement, the Mexican Football Federation announced the diagnosis of the injury of the Rayados player that disaffected him to the call of the “Tri”.

“After performing the scheduled studies, a muscle injury was confirmed in the hamstring of the right thigh, which he presented during his last meeting with Club Monterrey,” the statement said. On Monday, the Chivas player joined the Concentration at the High Performance Center to start training with the rest of his teammates.

Roberto Alvarado Was Not the Only Change in the Team

Alvarado was not the only one who despite not appearing in the first list is now with the Aztec delegation for the last matches of the hexagonal final of CONCACAF since the goalkeeper of Santos Laguna, Carlos Acevedo, also arrived to replace Jonathan Orozco after he got injured.

Martino’s initial call-up suffered three changes since, in addition to the injuries of Jonathan Orozco and Rodoldo Pizarro, and the arrivals of Carlos Acevedo and Roberto Alvarado, at first the striker Rogelio Funes Mori was taken under consideration. But he was disaffected after suffering an injury two weeks ago, and from which he could not recover. Thus, his place will be taken by Santiago Giménez of Cruz Azul.
