Manu Ginóbili: One of the 5 Basketball Hall of Famers in 2022

Huge news for Latin sports. San Antonio Spurs legendary shooting guard Manu Ginóbili leads the list of inductees into the Basketball Hall of Fame’s class of 2022, according to a report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The Argentinean has entered the temple of immortals after a brilliant career in the NBA, where he was a key figure in four titles won by the Spurs, in addition to being called twice to the All Star Game.

Apart from establishing himself as a star in the best league in the world, Ginóbili led the golden generation of the Argentine national team that won the gold medal in Athens 2004 and the bronze medal in Beijing 2008, in addition to the runner-up finish at the Indianapolis 2022 World Cup.

Another remarkable thing in relation to Ginóbili is the fact that he is getting into the temple of immortals in his first year of eligibility after his retirement in 2018, implying that we are definitely talking about a man who left an extremely important mark for his work on and off the court.

Manu will not be alone at the exaltation, as he will be joined by five-time All Star Tim Hardaway, two-time women’s basketball gold medalist Swin Cash, college coach Bob Huggins and retired NBA coach George Karl.

The official announcement of the Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2022 is expected to be made next Saturday.

The Argentine star played in the NBA for 16 seasons, always as an important figure from the bench for a San Antonio team that, with Gregg Popovich as coach, won four NBA titles in the first two decades of the 21st century.

After playing 1,057 games with the Texans, Ginóbili ended up averaging 13.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals. He also shot 44.7% from the field and 36.9% from three-point range.
